Complex systems made of fused quartz are used as reaction chambers in the:
- semiconductor industry
- solar industry
- chemical industry
- pharmaceutical industry
Because of its chemical stability and inertness even under high temperatures fused silica is widely used to form reaction chambers to contain aggressive atmospheres. Most equipment needed to handle products in these chambers can be made of fused silica as well.
Additional applications for fused quartz are window plates for sensors or energy sources in the UV or IR region of the light spectrum.
